WhatsApp and Telegram for iGaming: A CRM Messaging Readiness Checklist

Evaluate WhatsApp and Telegram for an iGaming CRM with platform eligibility, contact permissions, identity linking and support ownership checks.

Can an iGaming CRM connect every messaging channel?

A technical connection and permission to use a channel are different questions. Before adding WhatsApp or Telegram to an iGaming CRM, review the intended service, recipient market, platform account and contact purpose. Do not treat a successful API test as approval to send messages.

This is a readiness checklist, not legal advice or confirmation that a particular operator is eligible. Policy references were checked on 7 September 2026 and should be reviewed again before activation.

Check platform eligibility first

WhatsApp restricts real-money gambling, with limited Business Platform exceptions by country and Meta permission for promotion. Recipient opt-in is also required. An integration is not authorization. Review the current WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy.

Telegram bots cannot initiate a conversation with a user; the user must contact the bot or add it to a group first. See the official bot introduction. That technical interaction alone does not establish account identity or marketing permission.

Create an approval record for each use case

Avoid a single field called “messaging enabled.” Build an operational record describing what has actually been reviewed. Treat the following as a proposed review template, not a claim about a platform's mandatory database fields.

Review itemQuestion to settleEvidence to keep
Business and marketIs this exact use permitted here?Dated policy review and responsible owner
Contact purposeIs this support or a separate promotion?Approved use-case description
Recipient permissionWhat did this person agree to receive?Source, scope, date and withdrawal status
Account identityHow is the channel linked to a player?Approved verification outcome
Service ownershipWho receives an unresolved conversation?Queue, coverage and escalation path

If an approval is missing or unclear, leave the use case disabled until the responsible team resolves it. Renaming a promotional message “support” does not resolve the underlying issue.

Link identity without exposing the account

Do not merge CRM accounts merely because a display name matches. Use an approved account-linking flow and record the result. When a person changes a phone number or loses access to a messaging account, provide a recovery process rather than silently attaching the new identity.

Keep sensitive account discussion out of public groups. Prefer a secure, verified support route and limit which data appears in the conversation summary. A shared inbox should not become a shared permission to read every record.

Test revocation and channel failure

Create test cases for withdrawn permission, an unverified identity, an unavailable agent and a blocked channel. Check what happens to queued actions, not only new messages. Do not route a rejected promotion through another platform to bypass a restriction.

Keep support and promotional preferences distinct. A player needing help should have an appropriate support route even when promotional contact is disabled. Record the case outcome independently from message delivery.

Does a Telegram username identify a verified player?

No. It is a channel identifier, not proof of ownership of an operator account. Establish the link through the approved verification process.

How does CoCrm fit into the decision?

CoCrm lists WhatsApp and Telegram within its Omnichannel offering. Confirm the supported integration and eligible use cases before activation. Then apply the live chat operating playbook so channel-specific conversations have a clear owner and next action.
